Food Waste Management
D-100A
Food Waste Contribution: Food waste accounted for about 30% of the total MSW, which translates to roughly 3,300 tonnes of food waste disposed of daily.
Sources of Food Waste: Of the food waste generated, around 1,000 tonnes daily came from commercial and industrial sources, including restaurants, hotels, and food markets.
Solution:
In order to efficiently tackle food waste treatment in such a densely populated area, we have learnt from South Korea which recycles more than 98% of its food waste. Dunwell has brought the technology to Hong Kong aiming to tackle to pain points of food waste management and to engage stakeholders in ESG and sustainability practices.
